2027 Cruise Lite 28VBXL

The 2027 Forest River Salem Cruise Lite 28VBXL travel trailer at Couch’s RV Nation has two flip-up bunks and a flip sofa across the back. That rear space is a lounge by day and kids’ sleeping space by night. A King bed in the front bedroom brings the total to 12 berths. Our online build-and-price tool is the place to start, since the factory builds this one to order.

Parents keep the front bedroom of the 28VBXL, and the kids take the back, with the whole coach between them. If you want a smart value for your first few seasons, this Cruise Lite packs in a long list of included items. A single slide-out in the living area keeps the plan roomy at 96 inches wide.

Walk it from the front. In the nose, the Custom King bed lies across the coach, with wardrobe cabinets, shelves and pass-thru storage on either side. A bulkhead with a swing door closes the bedroom, and an entertainment center and fireplace face the living area. The roadside slide-out holds the booth dinette and a sofa, with a shelf along its back wall.

The entry door and steps sit on the curb side. Behind the door, the kitchen is an L-shaped counter with the sink forward, then the range, microwave and refrigerator. Behind that, the bath lines up the shower, toilet and vanity. A pantry stands at the rear roadside aisle, and the plan labels a camp kitchen on the curb wall beside the kitchen, for cooking outdoors.

Now the back. One flip-up bunk sits in the rear roadside corner with a wardrobe below, and another fills the rear curb corner with an entertainment center below. A Versa Queen flip sofa spans the rear wall between them, so the kids can lounge on the sofa with their bunks right beside it.

Berths work out like this: the King bed, dinette, sofa and Versa Queen flip sofa sleep two each. Each flip-up bunk adds two more, for 12.

Inside the Best In Class Value Package, comfort details are in reach. Campfire-View panoramic picture windows brighten the dinette, and Sure-Footed wide entry steps help with the climb in. A push-button power awning with evening lighting lets the campsite stay lively after dark. Power tongue and stabilizer jacks cut down setup time. Cooking is handled by a bake-and-roast convection microwave and a best-in-class extra-large 12-volt refrigerator. A tankless water heater, a full-size spare tire and a rinse-off-ready outside shower are on the list, too. A 15,000 BTU ducted air conditioner cools the coach, and the underbelly is enclosed and labeled extended-season.

Is a bunkhouse worth it with young kids? In the 28VBXL, yes: they get two bunks and a sofa of their own, and the entertainment center sits below one of the bunks. Does it set up easily at camp? The power tongue and stabilizer jacks do much of the work, and the awning is a button press.

For towing, start with dry weight, the empty unit as it leaves the factory, which is 6,208 lbs here. Cargo capacity is 1,582 lbs, and hitch weight is 790 lbs. It measures 33 feet 7 inches long, 96 inches wide and 10 feet 4 inches tall. Tanks hold 44 gallons fresh and 28 each for gray and black. The 28VBXL is a half-ton towable travel trailer when your truck is properly rated for it. Always confirm your truck’s towing capacity and payload before you hitch up.
