2027 Cruise Lite 24DBXL

Families who want bunk beds in a short, easy-to-park trailer should see the 2027 Forest River Salem Cruise Lite 24DBXL travel trailer at Couch’s RV Nation. It puts a King bed at the front and bunk beds in the rear corner, all in a body just over 22 feet long. It is a factory-order floorplan with one slide-out, and it sleeps 8.

For a family that wants a small travel trailer, this floorplan keeps the sleeping areas far apart. Parents get the front bedroom, and the kids get the back corner. It also suits weekend trips to a state park, since a shorter rig fits more campsites, though you should check each park’s length limit. You can build and price it online before it is built.

Here is the layout from the nose back. The Custom King takes the front wall. Wardrobe and shelf cabinets flank it, and pass-thru storage doors open on both sides. Aft of the bedroom on the curb side come wardrobe shelves and then the refrigerator. An angled entertainment center with a fireplace stands in the aisle. A booth dinette fills the roadside slide-out. The entry door sits at mid-coach on the curb side under the awning. Behind it the kitchen runs along the curb wall, with a corner sink, a three-burner range and a microwave under an overhead cabinet.

At the back, the bath fills the rear curb corner, with the shower in the far corner, a toilet and a corner vanity. Bunk beds fill the rear roadside corner, as far from the King bed as the floorplan allows.

Shoppers hunting for a family camper with bunk beds usually want the kids’ space apart from the parents’, and the rear corner does that.

The Best In Class Value Package covers the daily comforts. Panoramic picture windows brighten the dinette, and the convection microwave handles quick meals. The extra-large 12-volt refrigerator has room for a weekend of food, and the tankless water heater handles showers for the whole family. The power awning with evening lighting shades the entry side, and power tongue and stabilizer jacks speed up hitching and setup. A 15,000 BTU ducted air conditioner handles the cooling. The floors are real plywood, and this Cruise Lite’s enclosed underbelly carries the factory’s extended-season label. A rinse-off outside shower handles muddy feet and wet dogs.

Now the numbers. Dry weight means the trailer as built, with no water, propane or gear aboard, and for the 24DBXL it is 5,646 lbs. Cargo capacity is 1,867 lbs, and hitch weight is 521 lbs. It measures 22 feet 8 inches long, 96 inches wide and 10 feet 1 inch tall. Tanks hold 40 gallons of fresh water, 30 gallons of gray and 30 gallons of black. A dry weight of 5,646 lbs keeps it on the lighter side, and it is towable with a properly rated half-ton. Check your tow vehicle’s ratings, including payload, against the loaded weight before you tow. Loaded means the dry weight plus everything you pack.

Does the 24DBXL give the kids their own space? It does. The bunk beds sit in the rear roadside corner, a full floorplan away from the King bed at the nose. How many people can it sleep, and where? Eight: two in the King, two on the dinette, and four in the bunks.
